Here are a few of the highlights from the Ministry website:
BC Excellence Scholarships:
$5000 scholarship awarded to 55 students in BC, recognizing well-rounded graduates demonstrating service and leadership, both at school and in their community, as well as commitment and aptitude for their chosen career paths. RSS can nominate one student, but you must complete a ‘Nomination Form’ by January 18th, 2019. If selected, the award application package must by completed and sent to the Ministry of Education by February 15th, 2019.
BC Achievement Scholarships:
$1250 to the top 8000 graduating students in BC based on achievement in all grade 10,11 & 12 courses (including elective courses). Students must have a “B” or better in English 12 or Communications 12. No application necessary.
District Authority Scholarships (8 last year @ RSS):
$1250 based on outstanding achievement in Arts; Education; Applied Design and Technology; Physical Activity and Health; International Languages; Community Service; Technical and Trades Training; or Indigenous Languages & Culture. Students will set up a display at school in May.
Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship:
$5000 scholarship awarded to 20 exceptional graduating students intending to enter a BC Faculty of Education teacher-training program. See your counsellor to get the application package. Final application due to the Ministry of Education by February 15th, 2019.
Youth Work In Trades Awards
$1000 to eligible Youth Work In Trades students. Must have a C+ or better on all Grade 12 level courses. Given to students for sustained and exceptional work as an apprentice.
