Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate with a Dogwood, every student in the Graduation Program has to pass certain basic courses at the grade 10-12 level:

Please note:  With ongoing changes to the BC Curriculum, some of these courses will not be available or offered to students graduating after June 2019.

Grade 10

  1. Social Studies 10 (MSS–10)
  2. Science 10 (MSC–10)
  3. A Physical Education course from these two options:
    1. Physical and Health Education 10 (MPHED10)
    2. Physical and Health Education 10: Active Living(MPHED10ACL)
  4. A Math Course from these two options:
    1. Workplace Math 10 (MAWM-10)
    2. Foundations of Math & Precalculus 10 (MFMP-10)
  5. An English Course from these four options:
    1. Composition and Literary Studies 10
    2. Creative Writing and Literary Studies 10
    3. Spoken Language and New Media 10
    4. Composition and New Media 10
  6. Career/Life Education (formerly Planning 10) is now a 2-credit course offered within your English 10 course.

GRADE 11

  1. English 11
  2. Social Studies 11 or Social Studies 12 which may include one of the following courses:
    1. Social Justice 12
    2. Law 12
    3. History 12
    4. Geography 12
  3. Math 11
  4. Science 11

GRADE 12

  1. English 12 **OR** First Peoples 12 **OR** Communications 12
  2. A minimum of 4 grade 12 level courses (including English)
  3. Graduation Transitions  (not a class, but a 4-Credit process that will be part of your English 12 / Communications 12 class)

Additional Requirements for Graduation:

  1. At least one Fine Arts or Applied Skills 10, 11 or 12
  2. a minimum of 20 courses (80 Credits)
