Stoke Youth Fitness: Free!

Free drop-in for RSS Students after school on Fridays at Trans-Canada fitness.

Stoke Youth Yoga: Free!

Free Yoga on Wednesdays at 4:00pm at the Balu Yoga Studio.  No experience needed.  Meg will be offering transportation if you need a ride.  Namaste!

Adventure in Citizenship 2018

Want to visit Ottawa with 200 people your age?

~The Adventure in Citizenship program runs from April 29 to May 02, 2018.
~Revelstoke Rotary Club will cover the cost of airfare to and from Ottawa, from Kelowna.
~Students are home hosted in a Rotary member’s home, with another student.  There are 200 students invited to this event, from all across Canada.
~The successful student will be asked to make a presentation to the Revelstoke Rotary Club about their “Adventure” after their return.

The successful candidate:
~Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant between the ages of 16 and 18 (must be 16 before May 02, 2018).
~Should have excellent academic standing.
~Leadership ability
~Community service, with an emphasis on non-school related volunteering

All applicants will write a short essay (approx.. 250 words) on “What does being a Canadian citizen mean to you?”  This will be presented by the student to the Rotary Club of Revelstoke on Thursday, February 08, 2018, at the noon meeting.

Games Night at the Public Library

Come and play board games and eat pizza with the StokeYouth Network!  Tuesdays from 3:30pm-5:30pm at the public library.  Meg and Leslie can give you a ride if you need one.

Library Reminder

Novels taken out before the holidays are now overdue.  Please return or renew your books.  Gather your textbooks to get ready for exams or return them before the end of the semester.

Grade 12’s

RSS is able to nominate one grad for the BC Academic Excellence and Leadership Scholarship.  If you are interested in a chance at this scholarship, please see your counsellor.  The deadline for nominations is this Friday.

LGBTQ Students and Allies

You are invited to a lunch group on Wednesdays in the Community Connections office.

Exposed: The Play

The RSS Drama class presents Exposed: The Real Story Behind the Fairy Tales.  Tickets are free and the shows are on January 16th and 17th.  See Ms. Browning for details.

Homework Club

If you need any extra help with homework, some time to use the computer lab, or just a quiet place to study, come to the Homework Club in the library.  It starts September 14th and continues through the year on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:15-4:30pm.  (Ms. Carey)

Drop-in Sports

Join us every Monday at lunch in the gym to play.  (Stoke Youth Network)

‘Tight Knit’ Tuesdays at RSS

Come down to Dana’s room (Rm. 209) on Tuesdays at lunch and learn to knit with Ms. Avery and Danielle  OR work on a project that you have started.  We can make scarves, mitts, toques, and socks.  (Ms. Avery)

Sparring Club

Interested students need to get their permission forms in to Mr. B as soon as possible.  Sparring sessions are Tuesdays after school until 4:30 in the fitness room. (Mr. Boggild)
